Bear Pit Bull Terrier Young - Adoption, Rescue for sale in Auburn, California

Bear is a stunning 1-2 year old mixed breed dog who weighs around 60 lbs.

He is an absolute sweetheart who was found as a stray and never claimed by anyone.

Bear loves people and has been a great companion in his foster home.

He likes other dogs and would fit great into a loving, active home.

Bear is the right amount of energy and snuggles and hes pretty much the full package.

He enjoys daily walks but doesnt need to be exhausted daily.

He enjoys his activity but then enjoys being next to his people and getting loved on.

He is a first class cuddler so adopters, beware! Bear is neutered, microchipped, UTD on vaccinations, heart worm negative, crate and house trained!

Hes looking for a forever home where he can grow old and eventually claim the entire couch as his own!

Child appropriate? Bear hasnt been around children in his foster home but based on his behavior it seems like he will adore kiddos!

He doesnt jump and LOVES people so it seems like hed be ok with kids as long as they are respectful of his boundaries.

Other dog appropriate? Yes!! Bear is great with his foster brother Zeus. He plays when Zeus wants to play but is also really great at just coexisting and ignoring Zeus when hes being grumpy and old. Hes really wonderful with Zeus! He also did well with his doggie play dates when he was at the shelter.

He is a bit possessive with other dogs around his stuffy toys so its easy to manage by keeping those picked up.

He is not possessive with rubber toys, ball or bones.

Cat appropriate? Bear hasnt been around cats but he did not do well with his kitty test at the shelter so it would likely depend on the cat and how well the family managed the two.

How is he with strangers? AMAZING!! Bear loves people. We are pretty sure hed give kisses to a robber J Hes met some friends and family members of his fosters and has greeted each one with happiness and love.

He seems very happy to meet anyone and everyone.

What is his play style?

Bear loves to wrestle around with his foster bro Zeus, and is seems to enjoy a rougher play style.

During play he mouths and paws Zeus and gets it right back so we think hed do well with another dog of like play style. With people, he likes to play tug-o-war and he is STRONG!! When playing with people he is never too rough and he seems to be learning his own strength.

Does he like toys? He likes to destroy toys! Doesnt matter how sturdy, he can tear into it and get the squeaker out. And oh man he loves squeakers. Kongs are a lifesaver, he hasnt ruined one and they keep him busy for quite a while. Cheap toys he can rip up are also a favorite as he enjoys the sweet gratification of the kill, lol. He also enjoys chasing a tennis ball.

Does he like water? Bear seemed to enjoy going to the lake and even took a bit of a swim for his first time.

We think hed probably enjoy lake visits.

He didnt love bath time in the tub though, but that was likely due to it being a strange environment he wasnt used to or had experienced.

Despite not loving it, he was really well behaved during the bath.

Does he like car rides? Hes done great it the car on the trips hes taken. He seems to like riding shotgun next to you but will also lay down on a bed in the backseat.

Exercise level needed? Bear needs a moderate level of exercise. He is learning to love walks but walks amazing on leash so taking him on daily walks would be great.

He also gets energy out by playing fetch in the yard, playing tug-o-war with his fosters and wrestling with his foster bro.

Behavior issues? The only issue noted in his foster home is chewing.

He is a younger dog so that isnt too out of the ordinary.

Adopters will need to crate him when they arent home to curb this and just make sure valuables are picked up and Bear has plenty of chew toys to focus on vs. other items.

If there is something yummy on the counter he has a tendency to put his paws on the counter to check it out but that is directable by telling him off.

Medical issues? No known medical issues.

Hes a healthy, young dog.

Skills? Bear know how to play fetch and bring the ball back and he knows the commands sit, lay, crate, and potty and is highly skilled in the art of cuddling J

Special/endearing things? Bear is an incredible snuggler!

You can see that from some of his pics.

As soon as his foster mom lays on the couch he comes right up and lays alongside her and passes out. Hes pretty cute!! He also has a very soft bark, it sounds so silly coming from his big body but it fits his gentle personality :) Hes a very lovable and happy dog and he would fit easily into most homes.

He has a very gentle spirit and he just wants so much to be loved and be near his people. He also has the smoothest, silky coat, its beautiful and makes his snuggles even more enjoyable.

Ideal home? Bears ideal home would be with someone fairly active who would have the time to take him walks and other outdoor adventures and spend time playing with him at home. As mentioned, his cuddling skills are pretty spectacular so a home where he is allowed on the couch would be nice. A home with another friendly, playful dog would be great because he does enjoy the company of another dog.

Bear is a well-adjusted dog so hed be good in a family where they like to take him places and make him a true member of their family.

A family who is gone all the time or really busy would not be ideal as Bear is truly looking to join a family as a member, not be a accessory.
